Longevity And Retiree Recognitions
Honoring teachers with 5, 10, 15, 20, etc years of music education service and those who plan to retire from the profession.
The due date for the following Awards is March 1!
Outstanding New Music Educator Award
Purpose: To give recognition for outstanding accomplishments by one MMEA member within their first five years of service in the state to the advancement of music education.
Eligibility: A nominee who is within the first five years of teaching in the state of Maine. One who has demonstrated effectiveness in teaching young people through music, and the ability to inspire positive attitudes among students, school, and community.
Hall of Fame Award
Purpose: To honor music educators who, by virtue of their contributions, are recognized as being the most highly regarded professional leaders in the state of Maine.
Eligibility: A nominee, living or deceased, active or retired, should be or should have been an active music educator/music administrator in a Maine school or institution of higher learning for at least twenty years.
Educator of the Year
Purpose: To give recognition for exceptional support and outstanding accomplishments by one or more MMEA members to the advancement of music education in the schools of Maine.
Eligibility: an MMEA member who has demonstrated effectiveness in teaching young people through music, and the ability to inspire positive attitudes among students, school and community. One who has demonstrated a concern for music education by active involvement in MMEA-NAfME.
Outstanding Administrator Award
This award recognizes administrative support for music education at the building or district level. This award will be made to individuals who have demonstrated active, ongoing support for balanced and comprehensive k-12 music programs.
Educator Appreciation Award
Purpose: To give recognition to an individual or organization for exceptional support and outstanding contributions to the advancement of music education in the schools of Maine.
Eligibility: A nominee, living or deceased, active or retired, should be or should have been made a long-standing significant contribution to the school music programs in Maine.
